Gun Control Lie about Rifles Continues

A bunch of New York residents from the central part of the state jammed into Albany to show their appreciation for those lawmakers who voted against the the NY Safe Act, which bans a number of semi-automatic rifles, along with high-capacity magazines.

They also showed up to press their representatives to work to overturn the outrageous and unconstitutional law.

One of the major proponents and liars associated with gun control efforts is Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who said concerning the new law, that it "will limit gun violence through common sense, reasonable reforms that include addressing the risks posed by mentally ill people who have access to guns and banning high capacity magazines and lethal assault weapons."

Limit gun violence? Rifles are among the least used weapons and causes of death in homicides in America. In 2009 there were under 350 homicides using rifles, of the over 9,000 gun-related homicide deaths.

And when you read the description of rifles, they are almost always called weapons or assault rifles. They aren't described as the protective guns they are, or how they're used mostly for recreational purposes.

As a matter of fact, only 35 deaths a year associated with those killing four people or more. And those aren't necessarily the result of semi-automatic or automatic rifles. In other words, rifles aren't even an issue in the larger picture, and even if every death by them was eliminated, it would barely make a difference in the number of people killed by firearms in the nation.

So Cuomo and others are posturing and positioning themselves as champions of gun control, when if fact they've done absolutely nothing.

The law that was pushed on New Yorkers was one that includes a seven-bullet limit on magazines and changes the definition of what is falsely identified as "assault weapons."

Organizing the New York rally was the New York State Rifle and Pistol Association, which says the new law implemented in the state violates the Second Amendment.

New York Senators who voted against the bill included James Seward, R-Milford, John DeFrancisco, R-Syracuse; Joseph Griffo, R-Rome; Michael Nozzolio, R-Fayette; and Patty Ritchie, R-Oswegatchie.

Federal Gun Control Efforts a Charade

The growing resistance to any type of federal gun control law reveals the anemic and and weak position gun control fanatics have over the majority who support the Second Amendment and the right to bear arms.

Most of the hype is media-induced, and other than liberal conclaves in large urban areas, there aren't many places that really want to do anything to interfere with gun ownership.

As data are revealed as to the real numbers associated with guns used in murders, it is found that there are in fact very few murders a year that include four or more victims. The average per year is only 35 deaths within those parameters, referring to a specific place and time.

The other reason the gun control supporters are losing is the data also obliterate the false narrative that so-called assault rifles need to be heavily regulated. The truth is there is no such thing as an assault rifle, if it's being measured by murders, as it's accountable for under 350 murders a year, according to 2009 statistics.

So when media focus on these rifles, they're clueless or liars as to the danger posed by them. As far as them being banned, the huge number of these types of rifles are so plentiful, that it would be impossible to make a serious attempt to round them up.

It makes no sense whatsoever when the vast majority of murders as a result of guns are not done using a rifle. Consequently, this is a meaningless and fruitless exercise not based at all in reality.

Background checks are also being strongly resisted because there is no will to expand to private citizens the requirement to keep records of sales to other private citizens. This is another unenforceable joke, whether or not it was ever implemented. Politicians would pay a huge price if they attempted it in most places in the country.

Bloomberg's inept and obvious attempt to make U.S. citizens and politicians think there is a rising tide in people wanting to adapt gun control by his spending over $2.2 million for a gun control candidate to win in Chicago, only underscores the feeble and weak movement that it is.

How does a extreme liberal Chicago district which simply replaced one gun control supporter with another translate into a statement of any kind? As a matter of fact, the opponent of Robin Kelly had as good a chance at winning as Kelly did until a last minute media blitz paid for by Bloomberg turned the tide.

What that means if Bloomberg didn't come in to really change the outlook and perception of those that understand the issue and the Chicago political scene, rather it was a desperate move to combat the reality that even in Chicago people preferred a pro-gun candidate. It would have been a disaster for the gun control movement to be humiliated there, which it should have been without the outside interference.

Bloomberg can't buy every election, even with his deep pockets, and it only confirms the extreme weakness and lack of support for trashing the Second Amendment by rich thugs like Bloomberg.

In the end, we will probably see a full retreat by right to bear arms opponents. As people understand the data and facts, they are beginning to smell a rat with those trying to trash the Second Amendment, and that's why even Bill Clinton, whether you like him or not, is politically astute as to which way the political winds are blowing. He warned Obama and the Democrats not to try to attack gun rights and the Second Amendment, and he obviously was right.

The good news is liberal Democrats could take a beating in the next election for daring to shred the constitution even further than they already have.

Gun Control Irrelevant in Robin Kelly's Chicago Victory

The media creation of a fixed and rigged election which supposedly was a defining moment in U.S. politics concerning gun control going forward, is a joke, and the outright lie by gun control supporter Robin Kelly, who won the Democratic primary for a Chicago area U.S. House seat, was totally meaningless in regard to the Second Amendment and what the majority of Americans believe.

Here is what the dishonest and delusional Kelly said, "The voters sent a message that tells the NRA that their days of holding our country hostage are coming to an end. And their days of scaring Congress into submission on gun control are coming to a close."

with that as a backdrop, why did I start off with the idea that this election was fixed and rigged? It's because it was about the safest election available in the country that could have the term 'gun control' associated with it so it would appear to be a representation of what Americans think.

But when you consider Chicago is a cesspool of political corruption, it's largely meaningless. The other factor is that New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg contributed $2 million in television ads in the area, focusing on gun control. In other words, this was an artificial construct, a creation that had little to do with gun control, but simply another election.

The fact that Kelly already assured a victory (by Bloomberg's involvement), means she and her cohorts stole the gun control issue and included it as part of her platform in order to use it as possible leverage in the gun control debate.

As a matter of fact, until the interference of Bloomberg, Second Amendment supporter Debbie Halvorson was thought to have been in the lead; meaning that the people of Chicago, in the last several days of the election, where manipulated and swayed by Bloomberg's anti-gun and anti-Second Amendment attack ads, to the point of making it appear there was huge opposition to Halverson because of her support of the Second Amendment, when in fact half or more of the voters, before Bloomberg's wicked interference, were going to vote for Halverson.

The bottom line is there is no message sent out of Chicago other than the fact the corrupt city and media manipulated its largely uneducated population into changing their votes in the last days of the election to result in Kelly being the winner.

This doesn't in any way translate into America as a whole, and only underscores political corruption and media manipulation amongst a population that wasn't able to discern the underlying issues as well as most other areas of America can and will.

In reality, it only shows how much must be done in a liberal bastion to even break even on the right to bear arms. We should be heartened by this, rather than discouraged, because if Chicago barely votes someone in using these types of tactics, the majority of America will vote against these anti-Second Amendent thugs.

What is being attempted here, and which is a real danger, is if Americans buy into the lie and are socialized by the media into believing Chicago represents middle class America. It doesn't.

Americans need to realize all of this is a media creation which doesn't have any basis in reality for most Americans. We must not drink the kool aid of the mainstream media cult which has joined hands with liberals and those wanting to have a dictator in America, whose only practical challenge is that Americans are armed to the teeth. Let's keep it that way.

Rhode Island Rep. Doreen Costa Opposes Gun Control

Doreen Costa, among the small contingent of Republicans representing the people of Rhode Island, says she opposes gun registration in the state, along with the proposed fines per weapon. There could even be a jail sentence if gun owners don't adhere to the law.
Opponents to changing Rhode Island gun laws say there is already enough gun control in the state.
In a General Assembly with a super majority of Democrats, gun control is not a partisan issue according to one of the state’s few republicans.
“This issue is not a democrat-republican thing, it’s a second amendment thing if you ask me,” said Rep. Doreen Costa.
District 31’s Costa is ready to fight against one piece of proposed legislation that would require gun owners to register their weapons with local police, charge them $100 per weapon, and fine them or put them in jail if they don’t comply.

Obama's Fraudulent Anti-Gun Twitter Campaign

The outrageous and disgusting tactics of Barack Obama and his cohorts in trying to make it look like Americans are overwhelmingly in support of gun control, only confirms the reality that the American public is strongly behind the right to bear arms.

Texas Republican Rep. Steve Stockman isn't sitting idly by as Obama's henchmen attempt to deceive the public and lawmakers with this false campaign. He is pressuring the White House and its campaign arm, Organizing for Action, by sending both letters demanding the crooked Obama administration and OFA reveal whether Obama or his staffers knew about the illicit tactics.

He asked for records, reports, audits, letters, and other records that have any connection to the president's gun-control farce.

Stockman wrote, "I am deeply troubled by this week's revelation supporters of President Obama's anti-gun campaign employed 'spambots' to send fake Twitter messages to members of Congress intending to create the false appearance of grassroots support."

At least 16 lawmakers received the large number of tweets, with seven of them being Republicans and nine of them Democrats.

Christopher Dorner Would Have Passed Background Check

There is no doubt every nonsensical idea to put restrictions and rules on guns will fail, if the stated reason of protecting people is the real reason.

For example, the infamous former Los Angeles police officer, Christopher Dorner, who murdered several people recently, would have had no problem passing a background check. All something like that does is have criminals simply go to the black market to obtain firearms. Only law abiding citizens would be will to partake in a background check, and so that does absolutely nothing.

Another little known way to obtain firearms is through what are called 'gun trusts.' These trusts include members who are exempt from rules that individuals looking for guns are subject to. There are essentially little or no requirements for buying guns and ancillary items.

Even here some concerns being aired are about controlling this part of the gun market. For example, a family member simply has to pass on their guns to another family member in these trusts.

Think of that though. That's already the practice among families already, and there's not a law in the world that will change that.

We'll continue to pound on the only way to protect people from killers using guns or other weapons, and that is to have armed people in public places, or gun protection in the home. Nothing else can even the odds of surviving attacks than that.

Those who are attempting to create a utopia on earth, are also behind the gun grab movement. This is an evil idea that dictator types always have as part of their makeup, and the removal of guns, people, certain businesses, and any other thing that gets in the way of this terrifying vision of the earth they want will be attacked.

Of course gun control is one of the greatest prizes they're looking for, as they have gotten bolder and bolder in trying to impose their will on the population, and in America, if they are allowed to restrict guns, they will continue to grab and take until they get everything else they want.

Contrary to gun owners and freedom-minded people, these liberals and tyrants aren't willing to stand up for their rights to the death, which is why they don't ever try to attack conservatives and libertarians straight on.

But as far as their ridiculous attempts to assault the right to bear arms, it's easy to see they are feeble and anemic, and will do nothing to stop violence.

Violence is in the hearts of some men and women, and it's what is within that is the source of hate and murder, not the fantastic tool that a gun is. Only having an armed populace will protect people from extreme damage from crazies.

All we can do as a society and people is to limit the damage by quickly responding to a killer. Anything else is an illusion and dangerous idea that can only result in tyranny wrapped in the dream of a liberal, progressive utopia.

NJ Firebrand Teacher Blasts Lawmakers on Gun Control

Retired New Jersey teacher Carole Moore educated some New Jersey lawmakers recently, in a two-minute exhortation that left their ears warm.

Moore laid into them about the fact that tyrants like dictators Hitler and Stalin made it one of their major goals to disarm the people in the early stages of their rule so when they took absolute power, there would be no one in their respective countries to significantly oppose them.

She was only getting going with that. Moore than let them know how things could have turned out differently at Newtown.

“If I had been in that school in Connecticut, I would have been the first one out of the door, I would have been the first one charging,” Moore said. “The principal should have had a firearm. The associate principal should have had a firearm. They should have been prepared.

“I can protect my grandchildren when they’re at my home, but when I send them to your school system, who’s protecting my kids?

“You’ve’ been educated. I’m a school teacher, I’m also a firearms instructor and lifetime member of the NRA that’s been teaching firearm safety for the past 150 years. I’m damned proud to be here, and I’m so glad you listened.”

Media Manipulating Gun Rights Battle

If you do some online searches, you'll find when you search for stories on the gun control, the stories increasingly filling the top spots are states that are favorable to restricting gun use in some form.

That hasn't been the case over the last several weeks, but as the stakes get higher and opposition to gun control rises, the media are trying to make it appear as if a vast majority of Americans are behind gun control, when in fact they are far more supportive of the Second Amendment.

When doing some searching today, all I saw were liberal states like Washington, Colorado, Maryland, Chicago, and Los Angeles on the front search page when searching for gun control.

You can tell they see the handwriting on the wall when the media does as much as it can to influence the minds and hearts of America by making it appear to be a minority that support the right to bear arms.

Along with that, the media continue to identify rifles as assault rifles, even though rifles only account for under 350 (2009) of the approximate 9,000 murders using guns in America. In fact, there is really no such thing as an assault rifle, if you measure it by any statistic for the reasons already mentioned: very few people are killed by them.

In other words, if it's called an "assault" rifle, there must be measurable statistics to show they are used in many killings in comparison with other firearms. How come we don't hear about assault handguns, or assault pistols? That would make more sense when using the inflammatory phrase of assault rifle, as handguns are by far the most used firearm in murders in America.

The mainstream media are trying to paint a united front as the narrative in the battle against the right to bear arms, and by doing that, are hoping to sway politicians to vote in the way the want them to.

If politicians believe there are more favoring gun control, then they will go with it. It's not the case, but the media are attempting to make that false story believable. We need to convince our representative otherwise, and remind them of the consequences of voting to restrict our Second Amendment rights.

Ron Paul on Who Should be Disarmed

Ron Paul always has a good quip along with his straight-shooting talk, and it's no different in regard to gun control. Surprisingly (or not surprisingly), Paul says he opposes all attempts to regulate firearms with the exception of one: federal agents.

Paul says this on The Free Foundation:
While I oppose most gun control proposals, there is one group of Americans I do believe should be disarmed: federal agents. The use of force by federal agents to enforce unjust and unconstitutional laws is one of the major, albeit overlooked, threats to liberty. Too often Americans are victimized by government force simply for engaging in commercial transactions disproved of by Congress and the federal bureaucracy.

For example, the offices of Rawesome Foods in Venice, California, have been repeatedly raided by armed federal and state agents, and Rawesome’s founder, 65-year old James Stewart, has been imprisoned. What heinous crime justified this action? Rawesome sold unpasteurized (raw) milk and cheese to willing customers – in a state where raw milk is legal! You cannot even drink milk from a cow without a federal permit!

Other reasons for disarming Federal agents in Paul's view is from their draconian attack on raw milk producers, alternative health providers, and gold coin dealers

He concludes his thoughts with a quote from C.S. Lewis, where he state that the worst kind of tyranny is that which is "exercised for the good of its victims.”

Thousands Attend “Day of Resistance” Rallies

“Day of Resistance” rallies attracted the support of thousands of people across the nation, as a growing grass roots resistance for Americans retaining the right to bear arms is growing, as liberal and opportunistic politicians attempt to strip the freedoms of the American people down to the core.

Estimates are anywhere from hundreds to thousands of people showed up at local rallies on Saturday.

There is no way of knowing how many people attended the approximate 100 rallies, but the emotional issue is drawing numerous people into resistance, which will no doubt result in the re-emergence of a vibrant and strengthened Tea Party; possibly to levels even more robust than before.

If that's the case, the politicians being voted out of office in the next elections - especially liberal Democrats - could be high. We can only hope and pray that's the case.

Even Bill Clinton admonished the Democrats that they shouldn't have taken this on. They refused to listen, and now are sure to pay the price. Americans can't wait until the next election to heavily punish Democrats for the attacks on our freedoms.

Freedom and the Right to Bear Arms

There is nothing in the Second Amendment suggesting any politician or lawmaker can change or adapt it to make it say anything but in America we all have the right to bear arms. Not only does that apply to protection against criminals and crazies, but also against a government that attempts to assert itself in a manner that results in tyranny.

So even though the attempt by mainstream media to demonize "assault" rifles as being unnecessary and evil, the fact is there are very few of the homicides in America that are the result of a rifle. Only about 348 of all guns deaths in America, as of 2009, were as the result of a killer using a rifle. The vast majority of those using guns for murder, use handguns.

The other lie is the use of the term assault rifle in the first place. In reality there is no such thing. It is a rifle ... period. Nothing else.

Most people that have some wisdom understand that Americans with automatic and semi-automatic firearms don't have them for the purpose of taking on the U.S. military in a direct confrontation, as that's ludicrous. They own them for personal protection, and to make a statement that we're a free people; which is what owning guns is really all about.

Having said that, if a government does turn evil, they know it'll cost a lot if they want to try to subdue a population that is packing.

Over the last 100 years of so various nations have talked their citizens into turning in their firearms, and it wasn't long afterwards they brutally suppressed them.

The bottom line is America was birthed in freedom, and gun ownership was a symbolic and practical way for its people to express that freedom, and if it ever came down to it, fight for it.

The Second Amendment Represents Freedom

Americans everywhere need to understand and realize that the Second Amendment was written to guarantee and recognize our freedom as a people.

The Second Amendment; “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”

Or as one writer aptly puts it:

The above amendment says absolutely nothing but what is written. The right of the people to keep and bear arms is an extension of the natural right to self-defense and a hallmark of personal sovereignty. It is specifically insulated from governmental interference by the Constitution and has historically been the linchpin of resistance to tyranny.

Beretta May Say Adios to Maryland - Hope So

Recognizing the gun control fanaticism of the Maryland General Assembly, Beretta, a company almost 500-years-old, is considering leaving the state of Maryland because a new gun they are about to roll out would be illegal in the state under an assault-weapons ban.

Another element to making a decision on whether to stay in the anti-gun state or not is its extremely popular 9mm pistol, which is used by numerous police department and all American soldiers, would also be banned in the state because it has a 13-bullet magazine.

As Jeffrey Reh, general counsel for Beretta, said, “Why expand in a place where the people who built the gun couldn’t buy it?”

The draconian legislation from Gov. Martin O’Malley would ban assault rifles and magazines with over 10 bullets, and any new guns that included what are identified as two more military-like features.

Reh also reminded lawmakers what happened last time they tried to pull gun regulation stunts - the company moved its warehouse operations to the state of Virginia. He wanted to let them know if they think the company is bluffing, they need to remember what happened the last time they attempted it.

As for the new gun, it's a very cool semiautomatic version of the ARX-160, which the company has already invested over $1 million in a machine to design it. It's a similar machine gun that has been made highly visible in the wildly popular video game Call of Duty. It's a civilian version of the gun, which is also used by special operations forces.

The company has already started to expand the plant to prepare for production of the gun. That move is in question now that the state is coming out against guns of this type, as well as others.

To me, Beretta shouldn't even think twice about leaving Maryland. They're anti-gun and anti-business, and there is no reason to operate in a state that opposes everything you stand for, and is willing to implement laws that would hurt the company and do nothing to improve safety.

According to the FBI, the latest figures in 2009 show that of the 9,000 plus homicides using firearms in America, less than 350 were committed using a rifle.

Firearms Low on Death Causes List in America

When combining death causes from the CDC and FBI, it is found that firearms are very low on the causes of death in America. Here are the leading causes of death from all types, with the final two from 2009 FBI data.

Below are the leading US killers and the source of data:

•Annual deaths from heart disease based on CDC data: 597,689
•Cancer deaths from CDC data: 574,743
•Chronic lower respiratory diseases (CDC): 138,080
 •Stroke deaths (CDC): 129,476
•Deaths from accidents, unintentional injuries (CDC): 120,859
•Alzheimer’s disease deaths per year (CDC): 83,494
 •Diabetes (CDC): 69,071
•Influenza deaths each year (CDC): 50,097
 •Suicide deaths (CDC): 38,364
 •Overall weapons deaths (2009 FBI): 13,636
 •Overall firearm deaths (2009 FBI): 9,146

Some may question the firearms deaths being at that level, as the media attempt to make it look like it's an epidemic, when it in fact is very low in comparison to other leading causes of death.

The reason the data are inflated concerning firearm deaths in America is because they include suicides from firearms, as well as accidental deaths. Actual homicides though are accurately represented by the 9,146 in 2009.

So instead of the 30,000 or so lied about the media as to murders where firearms are used (lies of omission, because they purposely don't attempt to break down the data), it is about a third of that.

The other data left out are those from 2007-2011, where it is found that violent crime has plummeted during those years, undermining the hype and hysteria of gun control fanatics.

Rifles Among Least Used Guns in Murders

Data provided by the FBI for 2009 shows that rifles were among the least used firearms to be used in murder.

Here's how it breaks down:

Of the 9,146 firearm deaths:

 •6,452 were from handguns
 •348 from rifles
 •418 from shotguns
 •94 from other guns
 •1,834 from unknown guns

It's incredible that rifles are the targeted gun of choice for those who hate personal protection and security for the people of America based upon the facts. Did gun opponents think America and the world wouldn't find out?

Rifle Deaths Vs. Knives, Fists, Feet and Blunt Objects

Fascinating statistics from the FBI for 2009 found that people were murdered by rifles less than by knives, cutting tools, blunt objects such as clubs and hammers, fists, hands and feet.

Knives and other cutting tools accounted for 1,825 deaths in 2009, against 448 for rifles; a difference of 1,477.

Blunt objects like clubs and hammers accounted for 611 deaths in 2009, against 448 for rifles; a difference of 263.

Deaths coming from fists, hands, and feet accounted for 801 deaths in 2009, against 448 for rifles; a difference of 453.

So now why should there even be a debate about regulating rifles? They aren't even a major factor in deaths by far, and we haven't even compared them against handguns, which resulted in 6,452 of the 9,146 firearm deaths in 2009.

There is no doubt from these statistics that gun control fanatics are using the appearance of a variety of rifles to scare people, when in fact they are seldom used in murders in comparison with most other methods of murder.

This isn't to say handguns should be regulated, because they shouldn't be. Just that the media and political obsession over rifles of various types has been built upon a lie as far as murders go. It's one of the least likely ways to be murdered in America.

Gun Control Equals Black Control

At a press conference at National Press Club in Washington, D.C. on February 22, 2013, dubbed "Black Leaders Speak Out on Gun Control," Stacy Swimp provides some historical evidence as to the fact that gun control in the past was done in part to control blacks of that era.

Stacy said that "there was a correlation, a direct relation, between gun control and black people control." He rightly concludes this: "If you think for one minute that gun control is gonna do anything about reducing crime, what you've done — you've just played into the hands of criminals."

Talking from experience he said, when criminals roam the streets, they all talk about which home are or appear to be the least protected by guns. Those are the homes they attempt to rob or cause harm to those living in them.

This is common sense of course, and even there there is another caveat to consider, and that is that about 12,000 gun deaths in America are homicides of specific intent. Well over 50 percent of gun deaths are suicides; something not mentioned hardly at all in the narrative. Project 21's Swimp: Gun Control Helps Crooks, Hurt Blacks

Draconian Maryland Gun Control Bill Moves to Senate

Key provisions of Gov. Martin O'Malley's sweeping gun-control plan face renewed battles in the Maryland Senate next week, while the House of Delegates launches hearings expected to be just as contentious as those that brought thousands of people to Annapolis this month.

Lawmakers are again bracing for crowds as each chamber presses forward with O'Malley's proposal, which would give Maryland some of the strictest gun laws in the nation. The governor is scheduled to appear at a Friday rally for his bill.

A handgun licensing provision pushed by advocates as the most effective way to curb gun deaths has been targeted by gun-rights lawmakers as the most onerous and objectionable part of O'Malley's plan.

Stupid Sanchez Gun Buyback Bill

Groceries-for-guns buyback programs have become popular in recent years in Los Angeles, which may be why we're confronted with the embarrassing spectacle of one of our local congresswomen, Rep. Linda Sanchez, proposing what may be the silliest gun-control legislation to date in response to the deadly December school massacre in Newtown, Conn. Sanchez, along with a group of allied congressional Democrats, is promoting a bill that would impose a 10% nationwide tax on handguns and use the proceeds to pay for gun buybacks, along with firearms safety campaigns and anti-violence programs.

Gun buyback programs make great material for TV news shows -- all those hundreds of guns piled up on a table is irresistible fodder for the cameras, and that makes them a favorite ploy for politicians and police chiefs out to look like they're actively fighting to take deadly weapons off the streets. Politicians really hit the jackpot when somebody shows up with some deadly old Army surplus like the two rocket launchers collected in L.A.'s annual buyback in December. But it's all just a dog-and-pony show with shooting irons.

Free Shotguns Given Away in Houston

A University of Houston graduate student says he’s conducting a study to hopefully answer the question being asked across the country, “Do more guns reduce crime or not?”

Kyle Coplen, who founded the Armed Citizens Project, is giving away 20-gauge single-shot shotguns to residents in mid- and high-crime neighborhoods to test whether or not the weapon will help reduce crime in the area, according to the group’s website. Coplen says the weapons are not of much value to criminals, but are especially useful for citizens looking to protect themselves from criminals.

Minnesota Gun Owners Wear Them at Hearings

Handgun holstered on his hip, Anthony Triemert showed up to Minnesota's Capitol on Friday for the latest in a number of recent legislative hearings on various gun control proposals.

"I just came down here today to show support for Second Amendment rights," he said. But Triemert's right to carry a loaded gun is safe in this building. Minnesota is one of at least nine states that allow people to carry guns into the brick-and-mortar homes of government.

All he and other Minnesotans have to do is notify the Minnesota Department of Public Safety in advance. As hundreds of pro-gun activists have streamed into the state's legislative hearings on gun controls, such notifications have spiked in the last month — almost 1/5th of all notifications given since the current permit law took effect in 2006.

Hot Coffee and Heat at Starbucks (SBUX)

Starbucks (SBUX) was the recipient of some love from gun supporters on Friday, as the coffee chain, which has decided to stay away from the emotional fray, got a "thank you" from gun and Second Amendment supporters for not attempting to interfere with their right to bear arms.

The wise decision by Starbucks was to simply say that the position of the company is to comply with local laws concerning firearms.

In Virginia, Ed Levine, founder of Virginia Open Carry, organized the special day to show appreciation to Starbucks for remaining neutral in the emotional gun control debate and battle.

“Gun Owners Support Starbucks Day” was very successful, and participants are planning on making it an annual event.

February 22 was chosen for a reason by the event organizers, according to their Facebook page, who say the 2/22 is a reference to three reasons the Second Amendment was designed:

2 = defense of ourselves.
2 = defense of our families and communities.
2 = defense of our great country.”

Below is an awesome Starbucks cup with the gun-shaped handle.

Gangs, Drugs and Suicides, Not Guns, are the Problem

Statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show that of the approximate 31,224 deaths from guns from all intents in 2007 (the latest figures it provides), 17,352 of them were suicides and 12,632 of them were homicides. When adding law enforcement, the homicide rate was at 12,983.

Add to that the 889 unintentional or accidental gun deaths, along with the undetermined, and a clear picture of deaths from guns is painted.

Those numbers have improved since 1996, where 34,040 people died from guns from all intents.

Taking into account as you go from year to year the number of deaths fluctuate, let's look at all murders in 2012 in 12 metropolitan areas in America, which the vast majority are related to gangs, and the majority used guns as the weapon of choice.

From Fronpagemag:
Chicago’s murder numbers have hit 500. Baltimore’s murder toll has passed 200. In Philly, it’s up to 324, the highest since 2007. In Detroit, it’s approaching 400, another record. In New Orleans, it’s almost at 200. New York City is down to 414 from 508. In Los Angeles, it’s over 500. In St. Louis it’s 113 and 130 in Oakland.  It’s 121 in Memphis and 76 in Birmingham.

The total number of murders in  these 12 cities combined is about 3,200. That's almost 25 percent of all murders in the U.S. Most of these are murders between gang members or by gang members.

Added together, the data say this. Depending on the specific year, well over 50 percent of all firearm deaths are suicides; accidental gun deaths at about 900, and rounded off, homicides using guns are about 12,000 a year, give or take. The vast majority of those homicides are directly related to gangs and drugs in urban areas.

So next time gun control fanatics tell you 30,000 people a year are murdered by guns, let them know it's closer to 12,000, with the majority of them happening between gang members.

If some try to get cute by arguing people wouldn't commit suicide if they didn't have a gun, it's easy enough to see that many other suicides are successfully accomplished in a variety of ways. People coming to the place of wanting to seriously kill themselves aren't overly concerned about the means they take to do it.

Add drugs to the mix and you have a lethal combination, whether it's in regard to using guns to commit suicide or murder.
As you can see, there are very few deaths from guns in the general population of the United States. While those that are are highly visible and tragic, it doesn't take away from the fact they are few and far between.

To me the only answer is to have people armed in areas where crowds gather in order to quickly respond to the nuts that are out to kill people.

We don't live in a perfect world, and we will never be able to perfectly protect people. To attempt to is an excuse to expand the power and totalitarian instinct of government to dangerous levels. We can't allow that to happen.

For further study on the CDC concerning deaths in general, and firearms deaths in particular, go to this link.

When you get there you'll see the numbers one and two near the top. You can click the circles in No. 1 to decide which data you want to search for. And in the second area you have options as the to method of death. Just click on firearms and scroll down a little until it says submit request.

Shootout on the Las Vegas Strip Leaves 3 Dead

People had more than gambling on their minds in Las Vegas, as a gun battle erupted on the Las Vegas Strip which resulted in three deaths and at least three more that were injured.

Passengers in a black Range Rover started shooting at a black Maserati, which resulted in the three deaths, two of which were the result of an accident when the Maserati smashed into a taxi. The taxi driver and a passenger were killed in a fiery burst of flame. Also killed was the driver of the Maserati.

According to police, the driver of the Range Rover fled the scene.

The shooting and accidents took place near the intersection where Caesars Palace and Bellagio are, at  Las Vegas Boulevard South and Flamingo Road, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

For those who think gun control could have stopped the types of people participating in this exchange of gun fire, you're extremely delusional. People like this will always be able to get guns, and the only way to stop them is with an armed populace.

Woman Shot By Her Own Oven

Cooking may never be the same for Aalaya Walker, as she started to preheat her oven to cook herself a snack, and a gun magazine left in the oven by a roommate. As the oven heated the casings holding the bullets erupted and hit Aalaya Walker, 18, in the leg and chest.

It isn't clear why in the world a magazine with four rounds in it was left in the oven. Strange indeed.

The owner of the gun said he took the magazine out of his .45-caliber Glock 21 semiautomatic pistol and placed it in the oven, while putting the gun in a drawer.

Walker actually picked the fragments from the casing out of her skin as she took the bus to the hospital to get treatment.

I wonder if we should introduce some oven control legislation in order to make sure no accident like this ever happens again?

San Francisco Gun, Ammunition Control and Totalitarian State

A couple of gun control proposals in the ultra-liberal city of San Francisco will surely receive legal challenges if attempted to be put into law.
Current law requires that all vendors who sell ammunition to people within city limits — even vendors outside San Francisco — keep records of sales, but it doesn’t require the seller to report anyone. One proposed law would force sellers, wherever they are, to contact the chief of police within 24 hours when anyone in San Francisco buys more than 500 total rounds in a single transaction.

I asked Police Chief Greg Suhr what he planned to do with such information, and he said, “It would let us know who was buying ammunition in ‘quantity’ so we could follow up with, ‘What’s up with buying so much ammunition?’-type questions.”

That last comment by the Police Chief is about as dumb and controlling as you can get. It's okay to buy, say, 400 rounds, but 500 rounds will somehow make it more likely someone is going to kill someone?

To me, this is nothing more than an attempt to strip even more rights from people and give extreme power to law enforcement. Power that could be easily abused.

That's not even the worse though. Listen to the next proposal if you want to see the attempt to become even more of a totalitarian state.

The other proposed law would make it a crime to possess Winchester Black Talon ammunition and bullets that are similar to the Black Talon. In his letter endorsing the law, Suhr pointed out that on “July 1, 1993, Gian Luigi [Ferri] used a TEC-9 loaded with a mix of standard and Black Talon ammunition to carry out a deadly assault at 101 California Street in San Francisco, leaving eight people dead and six wounded.”
The law also would add any ammunition “designated by its manufacturer for sale to law enforcement or military agencies only” to the list of bullets you can’t possess.
In case you don’t know which bullets are similar to the Black Talon or which ones are designated for police and military, the Police Department is supposed to set up a public list so you can be sure your ammunition stash won’t land you in jail for six months or get you slapped with a $1,000 fine.
But here’s the kicker: If something is not on the Police Department’s public list, it doesn’t mean you’re safe. The law specifically allows for criminal prosecution of people who possess banned bullets even if the ammo is not on the list.
It’s that last part — where the law expects purchasers to know bullet designations and similarities to Black Talons because the police list could be incomplete or nonexistent — that will probably cause this law to be challenged in court. It’s unconstitutional to criminalize behavior that is not clearly defined.

NRA Targeting 5 States to Build Opposition to Gun Control

The National Rifle Association is pushing strong in five key states in order to build up the already strong opposition to those trying to trash the Second Amendment and control people's lives.

The NRA will start running ads in Maine and four other states on Thursday, NRA spokeswoman Jacqueline Otto confirmed Wednesday. The lobbying group also will start running regionally targeted ads online and in USA Today.

According to the NRA, the reason they're targeting Maine, along with West Virginia, Arkansas, Louisiana and North Carolina, is because the senators representing those states are playing key roles in the debate on Capital Hill.

Utah Looking at Six Pro-Gun Bills

Utah isn't taking the gun grab and attempt to trash the Second Amendment lying down, as six bills were proposed to the House Judiciary Committee, with one already passing.
HB76 would allow any adult over the age of 21 to carry a concealed weapon with or without a permit. The bill passed the House Judiciary Committee 7-2.

HB114 declares the firearm regulation is "reserved completely to the state" and would penalize anyone attempting to enforce federal law. HB268 would keep police officers from charging a person with disorderly conduct just for carrying a weapon in public without other disorderly behaviors. Both bills will be reviewed by the House Judiciary Committee on Friday.

There were several other bills proffered to the Committee, which will have to wait to be seen whether they're more statements being made or legitimate bills that Utah wants to have put into law.
Other weapons-related bills proposed during this Legislative session include HB317, which prohibits the sharing of concealed firearm permit information with the federal government and makes disclosing or sharing concealed firearm permit information a third-degree felony; HB211, which modifies the requirements for issuing and renewing a concealed weapon permit for a United States active duty service member and spouse; and HB278, which requires law enforcement to return a firearm in its possession to the legal owner upon proof of ownership.

One woman came to the meeting with her five children, and rightly noted that the battle against violence doesn't mean people should have their rights taken away from them.

Siri Davidson said, "If there's no guns, they'll find a knife. If there's no knife they'll find a rock. Bad guys don't stop."

Davidson is right of course, and how hard is it to see this simple reality?

The bottom line is people need to be trained and armed with weapons in order to quickly deal with anyone that wants to kill innocent people. That's the only answer to dealing with people, as it's what is inside of people that is murderous, not the means they use to attack or kill someone.

Gun Control and Extermination: Lessons from History

There is no doubt the prelude to the potential destruction of a people is to be sure the guns in a society are confiscated in order to disarm them so resistance would be futile.

That has happened a surprising number of times in history, and here are some showing the exterminations that followed the disarmament of the population.

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.
China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, 1 million educated people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Gun Control Supporters in Oregon Legislature Run for Cover After Facing fierce opposition

Heated opposition from 2nd Amendment supporters caused Oregon lawmakers to run for cover, as they backed down from their controversial attempt to band the sales of semi-automatic rifles and large gun clips.

Senate Judiciary Chairman Floyd Prozanski, D-Eugene, said he has decided not to take up either bill in his committee, believing those issues are better left to Congress.
Instead, he said he would push ahead with a bill to expand background checks to almost all private gun transfers, as well as three measures dealing with concealed handgun licenses – including one that would for the first time bar most permit holders from bringing their guns into the state Capitol.

What Attacks on Guns are All About

I have used the word “guns” in this article scantly because this is not about guns.   This is about an attack on a culture.   It’s not necessarily a “racial attack,” for many gun-haters are White.   It’s not necessarily a “religious attack,” for many gun-haters are Christians.   It’s not an “education attack,” for many gun-haters lack college degrees.  This is not a “gender attack,” for many gun-haters are men.

This isn’t even a “redneck attack,” for gun-haters live in those weird and dangerous “fly over” lands.  What this is, though, is another and well–disguised attack on those who unfortunately fit all of the above descriptions.   It is an attack upon all of whom and that which the Left perceives has prevented America from being what they wished it to be since its conception.

Actresses with Guns: Action Shots of Ladies from Hollywood

All the attempts of Hollywood to distance itself from the fact it has been among the most fond supporters of guns as evidenced in the endless amount of action, thriller and horror films depicting the use of firearms of all types in film and on TV, makes it the height of hypocrisy to now make it look like the violence portrayed in films is disconnected from gun violence in America, as it joins the liberal bandwagon to ban many guns in the nation.

With that in mind, here are a number of photos of actresses in action using guns, or posing with them to promote the respective films or shows.

Included are images of Kate Beckinsale, Martha Higareda, Zoe Zaldana, Emma Stone, Summer Glau, Alison Carrol, and Milla Jovovich.

There are an endless number of others that could have been included, but they do testify to the need of women to learn how to hand a gun and own one for their own protection, and the protection of their families.

One thing to note in this group of photos is the variety of guns used in the photos by the actresses.

This image of Alison Carroll is the result of being the last model used for the Tomb Raider franchise, this one from Tomb Raider: Underworld.

Zoe Zaldana in a determined action pose. See the firearm hidden behind her?

Here is one of my favorite action actresses - Summer Glau - who I think is highly underrated. This is from her role in the Terminator television series.

Next is Kate Beckinsale in one of the more identifiable action scenes from the Underworld franchise. The intensity of her eyes is extraordinary.

This is probably my favorite photo of a Hollywood actress in an action scene with a gun, as Martha Higareda gives the impression that she not only knows how to handle a gun, but is more than willing to do so.

No photo gallery of actresses in gun scenes would be complete without Milla Jovovich in her Resident Evil role. This is a typical scene you would expect from her character, which used a wide array of guns to fulfill her mission.

Finally here is a great pic of Emma Stone with her shotgun in Zombieland. In our zombie world it shows we all need protection against the crazies and weirdos wanting to do us harm.

Fed Gun Grab: States Strike Back against the Empire

A number of states are battling back against the unconstitutional attempt to bypass the Second Amendment, as over the last several weeks Texas, Missouri,Wyoming, Tennessee and Alabama have introduced legislation which would void federal laws designed to ban some semi-automatic rifles and high-capacity magazines.

Not only that, but in the case of Texas, a bill introduced there would result in any government employee attempting to enforce federal gun laws to be charged with a misdemeanor.

In Missouri, in a largely symbolic move, State Rep. Mike Leara introduced a bill that would make it a Class D felony for any state legislator to even introduce a gun control bill.

Localities have been entering the gun control battle as well, with a number of them also approving of resolutions which say they will not enforce any federal laws connected with banning or limiting high-capacity magazines or any semi-automatic weapons.

Heidi Montag, Spencer Pratt Support Right to Bear Arms

NNathanael Jones/PacificCoastNews.com
When it comes to guns and protection, there's nothing liberal about awesome Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, as the two unashamedly take advantage of the right to bear arms and protect themselves from harm.

In this video (scroll down page), Heidi talks about her favorite gun, which she poses with to the right. How cool and inspirational is that?

Pratt was just as non-apologetic about his ownership of guns and the legal right to do so, as he said he is proud of the fact American law allows them to keep guns in their homes.

Heidi concluded that there was no way she would feel safe without the protection of guns in her home. Now that's one smart lady that doesn't always flow with the liberal, Hollywood talking points. After all, why should she and Pratt do so? It's their lives that could be at stake if an intruder or crazed fan broke in on them while they were home.

Also very cool was the fact that the couple spoke to the fact that British laws concerning guns are too strict. Too strict? Many times people who are victims of criminals in Britain are prosecuted for protecting themselves in their own homes.

Spencer and Heidi are great role models concerning gun ownership and why it's so important.

The couple met and were married on the reality show "The Hills."

Canadian Gun Control Lie Exposed

Canadian columnist Brian Lilley exposes the lie that he says is seen in numerous letters and columns in newspapers across America, which point to Canada as an example of gun control. Here is his insight into the matter as gun control has permeated Canada.

That’s the type of argument that has appeared in columns and letters to the editor across the United States since the gun control debate reignited last December with the Sandy Hook massacre.

You won’t have your guns taken away, just registered with the government. As I said in early January, registration leads to confiscation. That’s been the Canadian experience anyway as police and politicians decided that certain guns were bad and needed to be surrendered.

In order to get Canadian residents to surrender their guns to the government, laws were enacted which forced owners to turn them in once they were placed in a registry.

How did they get law abiding gun owners to surrender their rifles without compensation? They are all in the registry and failure to comply means jail time.

Finally, Lilley says these are now the requirements for gun owners in Canada.

... forget a simple background check. In Canada you need a background check, a safety course, a licence and a hall pass to use your guns. Because in essence that’s what this document, the “Authorization to Transport,” amounts to – a glorified hall pass.

Read Lilley's column to see the real story behind Canadian gun control.

Iredell, NC Wants Guns in Schools

Bold Iredell County Commissioners in North Carolina are pushing lawmakers in North Carolina to allow guns to be in the schools.

The last board meeting of the Commissioners resulted in two resolutions. The first would allow for guns to be allowed on school campuses, and the second that state lawmakers not offer support to stricter gun control laws.

"It would allow teachers who chose to do so, who had a valid North Carolina permit, to carry their weapons to school," said Commissioner David Boone.

"We just wanted to make a statement, to our General Assembly, to our representatives, that the people of Iredell County strongly support the Second Amendment," said Iredell County Commissioner Renee Griffith.

To go along with the initiative, Tuesday was declared "The Right to Bear Arms Day" in the county.

NY Lawmaker Ed Day Blasts Cuomo's Gun Bill

In a prepared statement, Day said steps are needed “to correct the overreaches and irregularities in Governor Cuomo’s gun bill.”

“As a retired member of the law enforcement community, I have been disheartened by much of the content of the new overly broad and restrictive gun legislation passed in haste by the State,” said Day.  “As such, and based on the recommendations of several law enforcement organizations, I am proud to have written and co-sponsored, along with Legislators Carey and Hood, a resolution calling for active and retired law enforcement exemptions from magazine capacity restrictions and ammunition purchase restrictions, along with a more clearly defined definition of assault weapons (such that legal gun owners and hunters are not impacted), and full local agency review of school safety plans, as opposed to the state agency now proposed.”

Gun Control Resolution in New Jersey Township

The gun-control resolution that failed to get a place on the Flemington Borough Council agenda last week has a toe-hold on the Raritan Township Committee’s agenda for its meeting tomorrow, Feb. 19.

Under “new business,” the agenda lists “support for President Obama’s gun control initiatives.”

The resolution, sponsored by a national group called Mayors Against Illegal Guns, calls upon Congress and the president to enact legislation aimed at keeping guns out of the hands of criminals, keeping military-style weapons out of civilian hands and making gun trafficking a federal crime.

3-D Printing Already Ends Gun Control Efforts

Before gun control efforts have begun, it has already been co-opted by new 3-D printing technology which allows anyone to make a physical gun with a piece of software.

The software has already been placed in the hands of an unknown number of people, with some offering the software saying their downloads are already in the hundreds of thousands, and that's just one company.

With the software already in the hands of people, the ability to share that software with others has already made any gun control laws and regulations obsolete before they're attempted to be put into effect.

Even the low-level 3-D printers can produce a gun that can shoot some rounds off, and the more expensive 3-D printers can design automatic rifles made of high-grade polymers and other strong materials for more predictable results.

The point is the debate on firearms is over. While there was already no way to control firearms, as there are already laws in place which allow people to make their own guns in the United States, now that has went to the next level because the knowledge barrier is now gone, as all that must be done is obtain some software and if you have access to a 3-D printer, you can have your own gun of almost any type.

If there are attempts to regulate the 3-D printing industry, it's already too late as well, because people with the know-how, like in the early days of personal computers, know how to make their own 3-D printers which are open source and not related to a brand or company. Like I said. It's already too late.

Laws will do nothing to prevent the killers from killing. As some politicians have noted, as well as others, the best way to prevent these murders is to have armed and trained people in public places such as schools, churches and government buildings.

In the world we live in, it's managing the extent of the damage inflicted by a killer that is realistic, not the attempt to remove guns from public use, as the law-abiding citizen isn't a danger to the public at all, but those that are will find ways to secure guns to go on a killing spree.

There is no other way to stop this type of behavior except with force. Guns are the answer to gun violence, and training people to use them in these emergency situations is the only answer there is.

Democrat Joe Salazar Rape Comments Over Guns Blasted

In spite of a half-hearted apology for his comments on women who are in fear of being raped could indiscriminately ”pop a round at somebody,” doesn't appear to be enough to placate a lot of women.

Salazar said this in a statement after the uproar he created:

“I’m sorry if I offended anyone. That was absolutely not my intention. We were having a public policy debate on whether or not guns makes people safer on campus. I don’t believe they do. That was the point I was trying to make. If anyone thinks I’m not sensitive to the dangers women face, they’re wrong. I am a husband and father of two beautiful girls, and I’ve spent the last decade defending women’s rights as a civil rights attorney. Again, I’m deeply sorry if I offended anyone with my comments.”

Salazar was blasted by some women for these comments that led to the forced "apology":

“It’s why we have call boxes; it’s why we have safe zones; it’s why we have the whistles — because you just don’t know who you’re gonna be shooting at. And you don’t know if you feel like you’re gonna be raped, or if you feel like someone’s been following you around or if you feel like you’re in trouble when you may actually not be, that you pop out that gun and you pop … pop a round at somebody.”

The stupidity of Salazar is only matched by his brutish ideology, which was the source of the pathetic idea that women aren't able to tell whether or not they're being raped, which would result in them blasting away at anyone that is around them. That's an interesting take on women, to be sure.

Why he even cluelessly made these types of comments is he's so obsessed with gun control that he will attempt to distort reality and tortuously reason out why there are absolutely no reasons for people to carry guns for self-defense - even when it comes to a woman protecting herself from a potential rapist.

This is why gun control fanatics like Salazar and his ilk are so dangerous. They are completely blinded by their hatred of the right to bear arms by the citizens of the United States, which is another way of pointing to the fact that we have the foundation in America of being a free people.

Sheriffs Gone Crazy: Home Gun Inspections Coming?

It didn't take long for concerns of gun owners to be realized, as in Olympia, Washington, draconian legislation was introduced which would allow sheriffs to come into a home without warrants and search it once a year. What could go wrong there?

Two of the three Democrat sponsors of the bill - Sen. Ed Murray, D-Seattle and Sen. Adam Kline, D-Seattle - allege they didn't know that the search provision was in the bill. As for Murray, the man who sponsored the bill, what does it say about him that he claims he didn't know what was even in the bill. I think he did, and the backlash was so strong he lied to cover it up.

Who in their right mind with an issue with so much emotion attached to it wouldn't read the bill. And there can't be the excuse that the bill was too long, as it included only eight pages.

Murray bizarrely ended up condemning his own bill.

Anyone who knows that people write these bills for politicians, also know that they know exactly what is being put in them. So the idea of pleading ignorance with a bill of this magnitude isn't believable in any way.

Below is how the bill was worded:

“In order to continue to possess an assault weapon that was legally possessed on the effective date of this section, the person possessing shall ... safely and securely store the assault weapon. The sheriff of the county may, no more than once per year, conduct an inspection to ensure compliance with this subsection.”

What are they going to say next, the person writing it made a slip of his or her fingers and this is what came out on the page? It was no mistake, and confirms the mentality and goal of those attempting to get rid of the 2nd Amendment.

New York's Gun Control Battle

Gun control came early to New York.

In 1910, a New York City mayor was shot in the neck by a disgruntled ex-employee, igniting a familiar debate over whether the shooting was the symptom of a diseased mind or a diseased culture. The mayor, William Gaynor, who survived, blamed the media for stirring hostility toward him.

The following year, after an especially shocking murder-suicide on the streets of New York City, lawmakers in Albany enacted the Sullivan Law, still on the books today, requiring permits for all pistols. It became a model for other gun-control measures around the country.

Univ. of Maryland Shooting Involves Mental Illness

The murder-suicide involving a University of Maryland, College Park, student who was on medication for mental illness will likely affect the debate over Gov. Martin O'Malley’s gun control bill and its safeguards against gun purchases by the mentally ill.

State lawmakers have remained quiet in the aftermath of last week’s shooting by Dayvon Green, a 23-year-old graduate student whom authorities say shot his two roommates — killing one — before turning the gun on himself.

The governor’s bill would make it harder for people with documented mental illnesses to legally purchase handguns, but it is not yet clear whether its restrictions would have stopped Green, who legally bought the 9 mm pistol he used in the killings and a semiautomatic Uzi rifle that wasn’t fired but was found at the scene.

Toughest State Gun Law Already Failed

In 1998, Massachusetts passed what was hailed as the toughest gun-control legislation in the country. Among other stringencies, it banned semiautomatic "assault" weapons, imposed strict new licensing rules, prohibited anyone convicted of a violent crime or drug trafficking from ever carrying or owning a gun, and enacted severe penalties for storing guns unlocked.

"Today, Massachusetts leads the way in cracking down on gun violence," said Republican Governor Paul Cellucci as he signed the bill into law. "It will save lives and help fight crime in our communities." Scott Harshbarger, the state's Democratic attorney general, agreed: "This vote is a victory for common sense and for the protection of our children and our neighborhoods." One of the state's leading anti-gun activists, John Rosenthal of Stop Handgun Violence, joined the applause. "The new gun law," he predicted, "will certainly prevent future gun violence and countless grief."

It didn't.

Like many of the recent shootings, are mental health issues the real cause?

New Hampshire Thumbs Nose at Gun Control Fanatics

A new gun raffle in New Hampshire is drawing the criticism from gun control advocates after news revealed several of the guns included in the raffle would be banned under the most recently proposed gun control legislation.

That divide will assuredly only widen after a coalition of police chiefs became the target of criticism after announcing plans to conduct a gun raffle to raise money for a youth training program.
